J. Ray Hays, Ph.D., J.D. is Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the University of Texas Houston Medical School. He has edited this series since its inception in 1985 after proposing the idea for the book to the Texas Psychological Association Executive Committee. He is a Diplomate in both Clinical and Forensic Psychology from the American Board of Professional psychology and the American Board of Forensic Psychology. His doctorate is from the University of Georgia and his law degree from the South Texas College of Law. He is a former Chair of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists and former President and one of the first Fellows of the American Association of State Psychology Boards, now the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards. He has written, edited or compiled eight books, a dozen book chapters, and over 100 scientific articles on a variety of psychological topics.
